Meet Dr. Jarod Fox

A Physician, a Father, and a Fighter for Central Florida Families.

Dr. Jarod Fox has spent his career caring for patients and communities. Now he’s running to bring that same practical, solutions-focused approach to Tallahassee.

Jarod was born in a small town in Texas and grew up in South Carolina, where his mom worked multiple jobs to get by.

As a middle schooler, Jarod and his sister found a home in their church and local sports teams, where he developed a passion for service and living the teachings of Christ. After obtaining an undergraduate degree in Biology, Jarod attended St. George’s University’s medical school and participated in rotations in Brooklyn and Queens, NY, Newark, NJ, and Miami, FL.

Jarod served his internal medicine residency in Savannah, Georgia, where he met his wife, April, before finishing a two-year infectious disease fellowship at the Orlando Regional Medical Center. Since 2017, Jarod has served in departmental leadership at Orlando Health, working at the Orlando Regional Medical Center, South Lake Hospital in Clermont, and Health Central Hospital in Ocoee.

The Fox family

Jarod treats a broad range of infectious diseases, including pneumonia, viral infections, HIV, and hepatitis C, while also managing IV drug-related infections and HIV prevention. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Jarod served on the hospital’s incident command center, combating shifting scientific data, widespread misinformation, and the polarization of public health advocacy. Every day, Jarod treats patients worried about the cost of the medicines that he and his colleagues prescribe, and he hears about the challenges facing Central Florida families.

Jarod grew up active in his family’s church and has participated in service trips to orphanages around the world, providing services as part of a commitment to strong public health and teaching him to recognize the inherent dignity and value in every person.

Today, Jarod resides in Winter Garden with his wife April and their three children, all of whom attend Orange County Public Schools. The Fox family are active members of Mosaic Church, and April and Jarod are working towards their shared goal of completing a half marathon in all 50 states. They can frequently be found in the bleachers at local sporting events, cheering on their kids!
